The Skate Board

UConn Opens its First Ever Skate Park

After much work, the skate park behind E.O. Smith High School located adjacent to the south end of the University of Connecticut's campus has finally opened.  Opening day was a success with a hefty crowd of people of all ages and skill level.  The park caters to skateboarders as well as longboarders, bikers, even razor scooters.  No roller bladers were seen but they may have access.  Helmets are highly recommended for your own safety.  The park has smooth transitions and well built ramps, rails and tables.  Access is from dawn 'till dusk and admission is free as far as is known.  The place is pretty small as of now but does have two about six foot quarter pipes lined up facing each other with a box between.  A fun set up and as time and funds permit, will continue to get better.
